Who is Christian Fellowship School?
There are 15 grade levels (Kindergarten age 3 through high school grade 12). The school teaches Bible classes and academic subjects from a Christian perspective. The extra-curricular and programs (currently including basketball, volleyball, cheerleading and trapshooting) are in the process of rebuilding.
CFS offers a Christ-centered education making use of ABeka curriculum, which is published by Pennsacola Christian College. Students are introduced to phonics in Pre-K, and on this foundation, reading is the next step.
The teaching staff in preschool K3 and K4 hold Associates degrees in Early Childhood Education. All teaching staff in first through twelfth grades hold a bachelor's or higher degree. Several of the staff members have completed extensive post-graduate work specializing in Christian Education. All staff members participate in on-going in-service training and the school curriculum is updated according to revisions by the curriculum publishers.
Christian Fellowship School is authorized under Federal law to enroll nonimmigrant alien students in grades K5 through 12. This program is with the SEVP—Student Exchange and Visitor Program, through the office of Homeland Security.
Christian Fellowship is fully recognized by the Illinois State Board of Education, which has evaluated and certified the school’s academic excellence, physical facilities, teaching staff and all other standards qualifying it for this status. As such, graduates of CFS have the same opportunities to matriculate to colleges and universities that public school graduates enjoy. (Many area private schools are only registered with the ISBE, but recognition means the school has met copious State Board of Education standards to certify the quality of the school's education program.) This status means that colleges and universities as well as military and other post-secondary institutions accept the school’s graduates as from any accredited school.
Christian Fellowship graduates have attended several colleges and universities including Southern Illinois University, University of Illinois, Le Tourneau University, Bailor University, Oral Roberts University, Rolla school of Mines, Texas A.& M., North Carolina State, Missouri Baptist College, Covenant College, Iowa State University, and Robert Morris University.
