EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

Extracurricular activities play an important role in the overall education experience. All CFS students are encouraged to enrich their educational experience by participating in our extracurricular activities. Although many of the extracurricular activities at CFS are of a competitive nature, great emphasis is placed upon Christian interaction, being a positive witness for Christ, good sportsmanship, respect for rules, authority and other competitors and putting forth the "best effort" rather than upon "winning at any cost".

Christian Fellowship School is a member of the Heartland Christian Conference, which annually hosts competition in girls' volleyball, golf, track & field, boys' basketball, cheerleading, band and choir, speech and a Bible and Academic Bowl. Other activities include yearbook, drama, and Student Council. In addition to the activities available throughout the school year, the Senior class members take a yearly mission trip after graduation. This trip is funded primarily through the Senior lunch stand, along with other class fundraiser's. In recent years, the Seniors have gone to Orlando Rescue Mission in Florida; and Faith Missions International in Del Rio, Texas, and Acuna, Mexico. These trips combine work at local missions with fun and site-seeing at local attractions.

Future Possibilities

Christian Fellowship School is exploring the possibilities of adding cycling, boys' baseball, girls' softball, competitive trap and target shooting, to the sports program.  The school is currently an affiliate of the Illinois High School Athletic Association and, as such, is able to schedule athletic events with other public and non-public member schools.  As more students, who have an interest in these activities enroll at CFS, the school's extracurricular program can expand and improve.

In the spring of 2008, CFS and Trinity Christian School of Carbondale were approved by the IHSA as a boy's baseball co-op.  We believe this program will continue to grow and develop in years to come.  The school is, also, continuing to explore the possibility of girls' softball, bowling, trap and target shooting as additions to the sports program.

In the fall of 2007, CFS participated in a short season of boys' team soccer with two other HCC schools, Trinity Christian School of Carbondale and Agape Christian School near Marion, playing both home and away games with each team.  We hope to expand this program to full team soccer and add girls' soccer as interest builds.
